Accommodations
You need to supply your own bedding to sleep in the temple or on the temple grounds. If you do not want to sleep in the temple or in a shaded outdoor area under the temple you can opt to camp in your tent near the temple. You must also bring your own towel and items for personal hygiene.

We look forward to your participation and ask that you sign up no later than October 11 to help the planners with their jobs as there will be much to do. We ask for your kokua.

Rinzai Zen Mission Annual Bon Dance

Ryukyu-Kajimaya-drummers1The Rinzai Zen Mission is having their annual Bon Dance on Saturday August 17th beginning at 6:00pm. This is a great event and one of the highlights of the year. It definitely is a must see event on Maui. As many as 1000 people could be attending so a big portion of the Baldwin Park Field is used for parking.

Maui Zendo is in charge of parking. We need volunteers to help park starting around 5:00pm. We have about 7 who said they will help but we could always use more.

Let me know if you can help hgpken@gmail.com.
Thanks, Ken

Hanamatsuri

P1020347This Sunday Rinzai Zen Mission is celebrating Hanamatsuri (the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha). The service starts at 10:00am with lunch afterwards. It is a nice celebration. The congregations of Mantokuji Soto Zen Mission and the Paia Dharma Center join the Rinzai Zen Mission to celebrate. Priests from the Myoshin Ji Temple in Japan will be there as well. The service is simple and usually one of the priests gives a dharma talk. If you have the chance come check it out.

Monday Zazen Cancelled

Monday Zazen (2/25/2013) is cancelled due to flooding. Baldwin Beach Park is still closed and most likely will not be opened tomorrow until they have a chance to clean up. Everything should be okay by Wednesday.

If you want to check the schedule our calendar is posted on our website: maui-zendo.org
